ACHIEVEMENTS
Camden competes in the South West Metropolitan Zone with Ambarvale, Campbelltown; Douglas Park; Eschol Park; and Ingleburn.
ZONE TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Athletes are permitted to enter four events and centres are permitted four competitors per events. Heats and finals are held for most events with the first four competitors in finals progressing to the Region Championships. Zone entry $20.00 per athlete. Each athlete is allocated one duty which must be carried out by an adult. To be eligible for zone selection, an athlete must have competed in 50% of completed Camden competition nights. This championship is open to the under 7’s and above.
REGION TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
This is the elimination event to determine which athletes will go on to the State Championships. The first three competitors in the finals receive medals and First and Second shall progress to the State Championships. This championship is open to the under 8’s and above.
STATE TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
This is the furthest level of progress for most Little A’s each year. This championship is open to the under 9’s and above. Only the Under 13 placegetters have a chance to go on to the Australian Titles.
STATE RELAY
The relays are for track and field events for U8 – U17 age groups.
Track relays: 4 x 100m; 4 x 400m; Middle distance (U9 – U12) one per group
Field relays: Jumping and throwing events
Children are only eligible to compete in either track OR field relays but not both.
ZONE MULTI
U7 – U17. Events include: to be advised nearer to the event.
All competitors need to compete in all events. A point score will be awarded to determine places. A small entry fee is payable by the athlete.
STATE COMBINED EVENT
U7 – U17. Events include: to be advised nearer to the event
Two successful athletes (two girls & two boys) from the U15’s are selected by LAANSW from athletes within this age group, to compete at the Australian Little Athletics Championships.
AUSTRALIAN TITLES
At the completion of the State Track & Field Championships, 22 athletes from the U13 age group are chosen to represent NSW at the Australian Little Athletics Championships. This competition also includes the Australian Multi-Event Championships for the U15 athletes who were selected at the State Combined Event Championships. Selection criteria for the State team to the Australian titles, can be found on the www.laansw.com.au website but it is typically based on the athlete’s ability to excel at more than one event.
